Last month, I traveled to Washington DC to receive my Award of Excellence from the In/Finite Earth Exhibition by VSA – the International Organization on Arts and Disability sponsored by Volkswagen Group of America and the Kennedy Center of Performing Arts. The trip was part of the award package and we got to meet our Congressmen – for Massachusetts it was Joe Kennedy. The In/Finite Earth exhibition was supposed to be on from October – January at the Smithsonian Institute. However, due to recent events in Congress regarding the Government Shutdown, the In/Finite Earth exhibition is put on hold. It is still going to happen, but may be rescheduled or just delayed.
Last Tuesday I traveled down to Washington DC and was awarded my Award of Excellence from the VSA Infinite Earth competition. To read about my experience see my blog post. The reception was at Rayburn Office Building, Rayburn Foyer at Capitol Hill.

VSA Exhibition: In/finite Earth
In/finite Earth is the twelfth exhibition in VSA and Volkswagen Group of America, Inc’s annual Emerging Artists Program. This longtime collaboration is an unprecedented opportunity for visual artists, ages 16-25, with disabilities to receive national recognition at the start of their careers.
In/finite Earth asks emerging artists to showcase work that illuminates innovative viewpoints at the intersection of environmentalism, creativity, and disability. Regardless of continent, country, or culture, over six billion people draw sustenance from the shared resources of our planet, repercussions for which are still unfolding. In/finite Earth is a call to artists to engage in the physical, emotional, and creative ties we share across our planet, and present their artistic perspectives regarding the natural world, sustainability, and our collective future.
The 15 recipients were awarded a total of $60,000 in prize money generously provided by Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
The exhibition will debut at the Smithsonian Institution’s S. Dillon Ripley Center in fall 2013.
